Growing up I was a swimmer and a diver and competed in many sports. In my twenties I began running triathlons competitively and competed in some as far away in Texas as the Hub City in Lubbock and the Wool Capital in San Angelo, Texas.

When an opportunity presented itself for me to move to Central America I did so in 1996. After traveling through Mexico I settled on the Island of Ambergris Caye in Belize CA. As a dive instructor for PADI and IANTD i logged more than 100 dives to 100 meters or deeper on compressed air; "deep air diving" was very extreme! While looking for a way to improve circulation, breathing and lower my resting heart rate I began to study a form of Kung Fu called QiGong; more specifically Yi Jin Jing and Xi Sui Jing. For several years I studied under my Shifu: Wayne Anderson. While QiGong is not your typical martial arts it did help me to achieve one of the deepest compressed air dives on record in Central America, 412 FSW or feet of sea water. While living on the island Thomas Neidermeyer and I also founded DEEPA, "Divers exploratory and environmental protection association", an organization that we hoped would promote sound ecological diving habits while protecting some of the beautiful natural resources and cave diving on the Caye.

Since moving back to Texas in 2001 I founded and run and organization called CNC rescue that tries to lower euthanasia for shelter animals in rural shelters all around Austin. My dog Duncan and I compete in disc competitions all over the United States and Duncan has been rated as high as #1 in Texas several times and we have finished in the top 10 at the Hyperflite world championships three times. He recently retired because he is almost nine years old.

After recently meeting Joao Crus I have become involved in his martial arts training of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and it is absolutely fantastic. His training methods instill confidence and build flexibility and stamina. Also recently I enrolled full time in school for 18 months and his training has improved every area of my life. It has helped my study habits, confidence and ability to deal with many of my employees and customers.

I hope to continue under his tutelage through the completion of my degree in Applied Exercise Physiology and beyond. I feel it is never too early or too late in life to improve "yourself" physically or mentally. Joao Crus's school offers me the opportunity to do both!
