Gary started Jiu-Jitsu in 2004 at the age of 47. He signed up at the urging of his son who was a high school sophomore at the time. He was one of the first students in Dripping Springs. Within a little less than a year of training, he received his blue belt. After continued practice he advanced to purple belt in 2007. Finally in late 2009 he was awarded a brown belt. Jiu-Jitsu has been great exercise for him to help maintain his strength, flexibility, endurance and avoid excess weight gain. Jiu-Jitsu has helped him enjoy other physically demanding hobbies such as hiking, canoeing, hunting and other outdoor activities.
Since starting Jiu-Jitsu he has also developed an interest in following mixed martial art competitions as much as he does American football. Gary's days are filled with the many varied requirements of his position as General Counsel for a large locally-based recycling, composting and solid waste company called Texas Disposal Systems. Gary, his wife, son and daughter have lived in Dripping Springs since 1994.
