I started practicing martial arts in college (a traditional Korean mostly Tae Kwon Do system with some other influences), kept at that for 3 or 4 years, then discovered UKKSA stand-up & ground fighting & self defense in the Northwest a couple years later. After about 5 years of Kempo & moving back to Austin I decided to try BJJ - a couple of black belts I trained with for a long time in Seattle recommended BJJ since there was no UKKSA in central Texas anymore. We'd enjoyed watching BJJ fighters occasionally on Pay-Per-View, so when I went looking for a place to work out and some experts to learn new things from, I decided to try it. After checking out a few local schools I decided Joao's Dripping Springs school was the best place around for me to learn & get in shape at without excessively risking injuries. It's great that there is a closer Austin location now! I'll have been practicing BJJ for 3 years this fall - it is amazing exercise, and a great skill & school.

I'm a professional computer nerd - I help companies design & develop large enterprise web applications.

I like drinking really good beer, I also like good food and enjoy cooking. If I could wish for one thing, it would not be whirled pees. There's not a swimsuit event, is there?
